The Dari Mana ( trans; From Where) was created many years ago from an idea Fliss had while travelling, although it wasn’t until living in Bali and working as a freelance designer that she really developed the idea further in collaboration with Kevala.
Fliss wanted to create a range for visitors/ expats and locals in Bali to take home a piece that would evoke a memory of time and place. From the people you meet, the food you eat to the sights you encounter in each town you visit.
The Hong Kong ceramics range was an exciting, bespoke collection made exclusively for TREE, recreated specifically for Hong Kong highlighting places all around the island.
The range started out by handwriting (carving) each place name into the clay and then inlaying with colour using Fliss' distinct handwriting style that she taught to the carvers/artisans in Bali, to now using a decal technique which gives a more uniformed type face of Fliss' writing.
